Maremma Natural Park

From Principina a Mare passing through the mouth of the Ombrone river to Talamone, along 25 km of coastline in magical Tuscany, the Maremma Park extends, with a total area of ​​the protected area of ​​8,902 Ha. in addition to a contiguous area equal to Ha. 9.097, consisting of a chain of hills that descends towards the sea with sandy beaches and cliffs, surrounded by swamps, pine forests, cultivated fields and pastures.

The Maremma Park was established in 1975, the second Regional Park established in Italy and the seventh in general.

Within the territory of the Park there are 5 integral reserves:

  • Marshy and humid areas of the Trappola and mouth of the Ombrone
  • Paduletto of Collelungo
  • Porto Vecchio coastal strip – Cala Francese – Cala Rossa
  • Wooded area Scoglio della Lepre
  • Fosso del Treccione wooded area

In 1992 he was awarded the European Diploma, a special recognition from the conservation point of view conferred by the Council of Europe, which is renewed every year and which concerns only 6 other Italian protected areas.
